Linda and I are preparing another trip to Disneyland next month. This is not news. We are always planning our next Disney trip. And though we sometimes go without our grandchildren, Addison and Riley, this trip is another of those that is dedicated to them. Now 4 years old, this is their 9th Disneyland trip. Lucky girls!
Watching the girls grow up with Disneyland has reawakened many of the simpler delights of the experience for me. When was the last time you rode on the Carrousel? But each time we go, they become aware of new things and it's fun to watch the experience expand for them. Last time, they rode on Soarin' Over California and Haunted Mansion for the first time. This time, they will take their first spin on the Radiator Springs Racers. They will also see the new Princess Fantasy Faire for the first time and we hope to see the new show Mickey and the Magical Map. They are old enough -- and bold enough -- to ask to go on Splash Mountain and if we're lucky, they'll both make the height requirement for Grizzly River Run.
It's also fun to see they now have their old favorites too. They both want to go on the Tea Cups first. We will certainly do the carousel more than once and they have now become enchanted with the Jumpin' Jellyfish ride at DCA. It's going to be a balancing act trying to get them to all the rides they are familiar with and on the new rides they also want to try. Of course, you always have to prioritize which rides or attractions you absolutely HAVE TO see this trip and those that can wait until the next trip (and there will be a next trip).
For virtually all of the trips, Grandpa has been the photographer, videographer and chronicler. But recently I taught them how to use a digital camera and on this trip they will each have a camera in hand to take pictures. (Maybe this time, I'll be in a few more shots!).
So, for my Trip Reports this time, look for pictures of Disneyland through the eyes of 4-Year Olds Addy and Riley. I'll post up the best ones as often as I can and will put the rest of their pics in a folder so you can scroll through if you're interested. See Disneyland through a child's eyes.
If you're in the parks on these days (July 7 - 10), give us a shout out, maybe we can wave at you as we hurry to the next ride the princesses want to go on! ;)
